Face-Off
FACE OFF - This is CBS news photo of Cho Seung-Hui, who before yesterday was another college student at Virginia Tech, USA. Look at him - someone you will see as similar to thousands of others at College Campus, maybe playing badminton as many Koreans do, or baseball. But this seemingly ordinary looking student brought along a couple of handguns yesterday afternoon to classes. The News Network reported that he was believdd to have shot to death two students in the dorms before entering a class and shot the students there. At the last count there were 32 dead and about 20 injured by his gunfire. This has been said to be the worst school shooting incident in US history. No one has yet determined what made a young man who is supposed to be learning English and have a decent living after having learned enough in a fine college, commit such an evil deed. Where are the care givers/teachers/educators in the college? How many students have a face that speaks well just like the next guy, but whose minds have been so twisted that killing is plausible? Isn't true that our society, whether in the US or elsewhere needs to understand the mindset of the young and provide enough character-building training before they blow up our institutions.
Take off the face of Cho and any similar kind of troubled college kid and there may be minds that are likened to time bombs that need defusing. Better still - realize there is the real need to strengthen our training up our children to live godly lives - that means allowing God and His Word to prevail in our schools and institutions of higher learning. If we leave out God in our lives, there is no loonger any moral standards to teach our children because goodness becomes subjective and even destructive. Cho is also a victim. He obviously knew no better inspite of his intellectual abilities. People still think that training the intellect is enough, and not the soul. Cho proves otherwise. TPII.
